PHYSICIAN EDUCATION LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM
For every year that you practice medicine with one of five state agencies, or in a rural or economically depressed community that is medically underserved, the state will repay up to $9,000 of your undergraduate or professional student loans for a maximum of five years or $45,000.
For every year that you practice in certain areas of highest need, you could qualify for additional federal matching repayment funds of $9,000, for a total of up to $18,000 per year for a maximum of five years or $90,000.
LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSES LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM
GRADUATE NURSES' EDUCATION LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM
Individuals must be nurses licensed by the Texas Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners, against whom no professional disciplinary action has been taken, and who have been employed in Texas for at least one year as vocational nurses in positions requiring a licensed vocational nurse.
The maximum award is the lesser of $1,000 or the outstanding amount of the loan, plus interest, acquired while enrolled in an LVN program of study. The average award is $250; the number of awards per year is 60.
