A Message from the Interim Executive Vice President
and Provost

September 27, 2012

COOPER

On August 16, 2012, we announced a new procedure for granting foreign national visitors access to UTMB's restricted-access areas. After receiving valuable input from our research community and after review by UTMB's Export Control Compliance Committee, we have revised the procedure. Accordingly, effective September 20, 2012, the procedure will apply only to visitors who are: (1) not citizens or permanent residents of the United States: (2) not employees, staff, students, or volunteers of UTMB; and (3) expected to visit any restricted-access area on campus.

The attached visitation form has been substantially streamlined and reflects the revised procedure. Prior to the granting visitors (as defined above) access to any restricted-access area, the department and supervising UTMB employee must complete the attached visitation form (Export Control Review for Foreign National Visitors Accessing Restricted-Access Areas at UTMB). Questions about the revised visitation form should be directed to Frances Streeter, JD - Export Control Officer at ext. 20376 or emailed to restricted.area@utmb.edu.

Sincerely,

Cary W. Cooper, PhD
Interim Executive Vice President and Provost
