People:
- Blake Rasmussen, Nutrition Interim
Chair, received a significant
two year grant from
Solae to study the effect of protein supplements during exercise training
on muscle growth and strength.
- Dr. Protas spoke at the Texas
Association of Allied Health Legislative Summit on legislative priorities
on Jan. 5th.
- Dr. Kyle Timmerman, Jared Dickerson, and
Dr. Protas participated in the ERRIS grant writing workshop at the
University of Virginia, Jan. 10th -13th.
Education:
- The Department of Physician
Assistant Studies is implementing a new curriculum. Students will enter at the end of June
rather than August. Ninety students
have been admitted.
- We are interviewing candidates
for the Chair of Physician Assistant Studies and the Chair of Occupational
Therapy.
Fiscal
Affairs:
- We are preparing budget requests
for the Provost for FY 2013.
- We
submitted a request for tuition and fee increases to UT System. If approved, this will mean
$
500 - $ 577 annual increase for in-state students.
