- We
congratulate Dr. Christine Baker
and Dr. Suzanne Peloquin for
receiving UTSystem Outstanding Teaching Awards.
- David Gunderman,
Rehabilitation Sciences doctoral student, was nominated as the Hay
Chancellors Award recipient for UTMB.
- We
had a retirement reception for Dr.
Suzanne Peloquin and Dr. Gretchen Stone, Occupational Therapy, on Aug.
8th. A reception for Dr. Richard Rahrs
retirement will be held Aug. 15th 4-6 in the Marie Hall
Room.
- Dr. Diane
Collins has joined the Occupational
Therapy faculty.
- Fei Du, Biostatistician, and Roxanne Grover, Internet Production Designer, Division of
Rehabilitation Sciences
Education:
- The new class of
physician assistant studies celebrated
their White Coat Ceremony on August 3rd.
- The
Center for Rehabilitation Sciences is sponsoring a meeting of the
Rehabilitation Research Career Development (K 12) collaboration on Aug. 13th
& 14th. Faculty mentors,
junior scholars, and the Advisory
Committee will participate.
This grant is a consortium between UTMB, University of Florida at
Gainesville, and the University of Southern California.
- A
site visit from the Accreditation Council on Education, Nutrition and
Dietetics is being scheduled for the first accreditation visit for Nutrition and Metabolism for late
fall.
- Fall
enrollment will top 800
students, the highest in a decade.
- Construction
should be completed on the first floor of the 1003 Market Building for new teaching labs for Physical
Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies by the end of September.
Research:
o
Dr. Blake Rasmussen received a grant from the
Solae Corporation to do a protein supplementation and exercise study in older
men.
Fiscal Affairs:
- SHP maintained a positive
contribution margin for the first 11
months of the fiscal year.
Community Outreach:
o
We are
pleased to announce the establishment of the Barbara R Blanton Professorship and the Barbara R. Blanton Scholarships in Physical Therapy.
o
