BiosketchDr. Ned Snyder is currently a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University Of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. After several years in private practice, Dr. Snyder came to UTMB in 2002. He attended undergraduate school at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, with a B.A. and History, and received his M.D. degree from UTMB. He did his Medicine internship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, followed by a Medical residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at UTMB. He also completed a fellowship in Liver Disease at Yale. Dr. Snyder was an Assistant Professor at UTMB from 1975-1977, and at that time founded the liver service at UTMB. He then entered private practice, and served on the Active Staff or Consultant Staff of several hospitals and medical centers in Central Texas: Waco, San Antonio, Groesbeck, Clifton, Mexia and Temple. He was chief of gastroenterology at Providence Health Center from 1978-2001, and served as a Clinical Associate Professor with Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Snyder has received grants from the Southern Medical Association, the National Cancer Institute, Amgen Pharmaceuticals, VSL Pharmaceuticals, the GCRC and the Department of Pathology. He has been an invited lecturer on hepatitis C for various UTMB and Texas courses and organizations. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Mu Delta Best Resident Award in 1973. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and was named as one of the “Best Doctors in America” in 1998. He was Program Director of the Texas Club of Internists Annual State Meeting in 1998, President of the Texas Academy of Internal Medicine in 2002-2003, and Co-Director of the Best of DDW Programs in 2003 and 2004. He has been on various UTMB and departmental committees including: Chairman of the UTMB Program Committee of the Alumni Board of Trustees, Gastroenterology Division representative for the Internal Medicine Third-year Curriculum and the Search Committee for the new Dean of the School of Medicine. He is currently President-elect of the UTMB Alumni Board of Trustees. He currently is co-director of the Gastrointestinal and Nutrition course, and directs the Hepatology service at UTMB. |
