Regina Minton, B.S., was selected as Informatics Manager in 1998 after a search that included interviews of multiple qualified candidates. Before coming to the GCRC, she was the computer support specialist for a variety of basic scientists and staff in UTMB’s Marine Biomedical Institute. In these positions she has had considerable experience in providing computer support for basic and clinical investigators. She reports directly to the GCRC Program Director, and also to the GCRC Administrative Manager regarding her role in supporting GCRC operations. Both provide day-to-day oversight and direction. She interacts with numerous GCRC investigators as requested for support of research, and with all GCRC staff regarding advanced computer needs related to GCRC operations. These presently include CAMP and use of the GCRC server for storing new protocols for GAC review, existing protocols for ongoing administrative purposes, and in the future will include CRIS (see below). She also provides support for the clinical research education activities of the CREO, and is available to instruct in the use of teaching computer facilities and software. Allocation of GCRC resources to specific protocols, including informatics support and the efforts of the Informatics Manager, must be approved by the GAC. |
