The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is a fully accredited ACGME training program in geriatric medicine for graduates of internal medicine or family medicine residencies. Board eligibility in geriatric medicine is awarded after successfully completing 12 months of training. Major program components include:
• Clinical Curriculum - provides didactic training in a wide range of services including geriatric clinic, geriatric medicine consultation, skilled and community nursing facilities, home visits, adult rehabilitation, geriatric psychiatry, and Hospice.
• Geriatric Fellows' Conference - a series of lectures, case conferences, journal clubs, and board reviews which provide trainees with a broad scope of Geriatric education.
• Research Curriculum - provides first year trainees with a broad familiarity of rationale, language, and methodology in conducting geriatric medicine research. Second year trainees receive more advanced research training to pursue a career in academic geriatric medicine.
