Tonya Eaves-Pyles, Ph.D.

Tonya Eaves-Pyles, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Department of Microbiology and Immunology

 

Tonya Eaves-Pyles received her B.A. in Biology from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.  She received her Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1998.  She did one postdoctoral training rotation at the University of Cincinnati and then in 2000 came to UTMB to work as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Eaves-Pyles work focuses on bacterial pathogenesis and her research is complementary to her fellow researchers in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology where she assumed her first faculty position in 2002.  Her work emphasizes the interaction between exogenous microorganisms and intestinal epithelial cells.
