New Organizational Structure

Dr. Karen Sexton, interim EVP and CEO, has announced the interim UTMB Health System Organizational Chart.  Please also see the Message from Dr. Sexton.

Please join us in welcoming Corrin Le Vasseur as the new Director of Patient Services.

She received both her Bachelors’ and Master’s degrees from the University of Texas San Antonio. Bachelors’ degree is in Biology and Chemistry and her Master’s degree is in Public Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. She completed her healthcare administration residency at the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio. Corrin came from the Cancer Therapy & Research Center in San Antonio where she was the Director of the Referral Center responsible for patient satisfaction.  Prior to that, she spent seventeen years at the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio.  Her last position there was as the Director of Communications, responsible for twenty-two facilities including all six hospitals.  She was a committee member for the City-Wide Emergency Disaster Hospital Group and a member of the Emergency Disaster Preparedness committee at the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio.

As our Patient Services Director, Corrin will focus not only on responding to patient problems, but in communicating with our patients upon their contact with UTMB, and anticipating and resolving problems before they become significant.

Corrin can be reached at the Patient Services Department, 772-1993, or via email at cllevass@utmb.edu.

Blood donors urgently needed: Alternative sources in short supply
If you would like to donate blood to save lives, please come to the Donor Room, 1.120 John Sealy Annex.

The blood bank operates from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

Donating blood is a simple procedure that can take place in less than an hour. You can speed up the process by making an appointment with the blood bank. Upon arrival, you will be asked to fill out a donor card.  Then, a staff member will meet with you privately to evaluate your medical history, check your pulse, temperature, blood pressure, and test your blood to determine eligibility.

Donating blood typically takes 7-10 minutes. Donors may read or watch television during the procedure. Only one pint of blood is taken and donors are offered refreshments before they leave.

For more information or to make an appointment, please call the blood bank at ext. 24861.

Patient Safety
A commitment to ensuring quality patient care and patient safety has been a driving force in my professional life. I believe that patient care and safety must be paramount in all that we do, and we work hard at our institution to maintain this focus. Our employees have a charge to help us with this responsibility, and there are internal policies, procedures and resources in place for any situation involving a patient care or patient safety concern. checkboxAs a member of the UTMB family, when you swap your role of “employee” for that of “patient,” you have a unique and valuable perspective. It’s very helpful when you share that perspective-UTMB works to continually improve its service to you and to our other patients. If you or an immediate family member recently had a clinic visit at UTMB, please take a few moments to complete this simple and short survey. It’s web-based, secure, and administered by UTMB to assess the clinical experiences of our staff and students. Visit the FAQs for more information. Questions? Contact Susan Tyler at (409) 747-3583.

Thank you,
