Gerald developed and implemented health promotion programs at UTMB in 1992. The program has grown over the years to now include Disease Management, staged and behaviorally based interventions, fitness facility management and consultation. Mr. Cleveland received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama - Birmingham in Health Education and Psychology and a master's degree from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in Health and Human Performance. He holds certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine and the Cooper Institute of Aerobic Research. Mr. Cleveland has served as President of Region VI board of directors for the Association of Worksite Health Promotion (AWHP) and as President of the Galveston, Texas board of directors of the American Heart Association.
