Tobacco Prevention for Kids

The Commit to Quit program offers tobacco prevention education sessions to sixth grade students in the Galveston area.  This is a one-time educational session which covers: harmful effects of smoking and smokeless tobacco, effects of smoking on appearance and daily life for adolescents, peer pressure, and specific strategies to equip students to respond when tempted with tobacco.  Sessions include hands-on demonstrations and models.  Although the session is focused on sixth grade students, it may be adapted for teenagers and kids of other ages.
