The 3-Share Plan is a collaborative effort between UTMB, the Galveston County Chambers of Commerce, and member businesses. It is a two-year pilot program, partially funded by a grant from Houston Endowment, to provide coverage for the working uninsured employees of small employers in Galveston County, modeled after a successful effort in Muskegon, Michigan.
The 3-Share Plan provides health benefits for working individuals focusing on primary and preventive care needs and emphasizing improving health status by empowering individuals to manage their own care. Costs of coverage are divided evenly among the employer, employee, and philanthropic funds (Houston Endowment grant) and funds from UTMB. The low monthly cost and co-payments will improve members’ access to care.
