Charles A. Worthen, Jr.
Director of County Affairs
The primary responsibility of the Director of County Affairs is to build relationships between UTMB and regional county governments. These relationships help government entities understand the UTMB system, broker the appropriate partnerships between UTMB and those local governments, and create an environment of collaboration between all parties.
In this role, Mr. Worthen works with Health Policy & Legislative Affairs staff to bring state and federal legislators and their staff to campus to showcase some of the state-of- the-art programs available at UTMB and to meet some of the University’s world-renowned faculty.
Having grown up in Galveston, Charlie is very familiar with city and county government and has built relationships with the people who make up those government entities. He brings community knowledge and awareness to the position that is second to none.
