IHII Newsletter Launched

Hello:

This is the first edition of the IHII newsletter, which is to provide a vehicle for communication among members of the UTMB infectious diseases and immunology community. We plan to publish this newsletter quarterly online. IHII is the umbrella organization for UTMB's infectious disease programs and promotes multidisciplinary approaches to the prevention, control and treatment of infectious diseases. IHII coordinates the research, education and clinical programs of more than 200 scientists working on issues related to infectious diseases and immunity, promotes new programs, and manages the GNL.

Today, we seek new members. Our current membership comprises those involved in the Sealy Center for Vaccine Development, Center for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases, the WHO Collaborating Centers, Center for Hepatitis Research, the Immunology and AIDS-related Research programs, and fellows funded by the McLaughlin Endowment and other infection and immunity training grants.

As Associate Director, I welcome anyone interested in joining IHII or who wishes to nominate individuals for membership. Please contact me at lysoong@utmb.edu. I also welcome your suggestions for topics to be included in future newsletters.
