UTMB Return to Work Announcement
Posted: 12:25 p.m. - Updated: 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, mc
Although UTMB remains officially closed, recovery efforts are continuing at a brisk pace and employees are now asking when they will be able to return to work.
Beginning 7 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4 (the start of the new pay period), all employees* should be prepared to report for work on their next scheduled shift. Those who don’t typically work on the weekend should report according to their routine schedule. Given the damage caused by the storm, a list of department locations continues to be compiled and each facility is being evaluated for occupancy condition. We will post a list of those locations as soon as possible. You can also contact your supervisor for details. If you have not been able to reach your supervisor, please contact Human Resources at (409) 772-8696 or getintouch.hr.utmb.edu.
Effective Oct. 4, UTMB will no longer grant compensatory time for essential employees* who have been working since Sept. 11.
Beginning Oct. 4, employees* who meet all of following criteria and who have talked with their supervisor will be eligible for up to two weeks of Adverse Weather Leave:
-
They are ready to work
-
Their facility or work site is not operational
-
Their work responsibilities do not lend themselves to telecommuting (such as nurses, researchers and clinical technicians)
-
An alternative work site is not available
Employees* who do not report to work as requested or who do not meet the criteria for Adverse Weather Leave must use their own leave balances to cover time off beginning Oct. 4.
*These provisions do not apply to Correctional Managed Care operations and its employees who were not affected by Hurricane Ike or who already have returned to regular work status.
We look forward to the day when we will be able to announce that the University of Texas Medical Branch as an institution is officially open for business.
