Alumni
Daniel S. Goldberg received his B.A. with honors in philosophy from Wesleyan University, and his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center. He is currently a health policy & ethics fellow at Baylor College of Medicine's Chronic Disease Prevention & Control Research Center, Research Faculty at Baylor College of Medicine's Initiative on Neuroscience & Law, and Adjunct Lecturer at Rice University. His work focuses on a variety of issues centered on public health ethics & policy, particularly on the ethical implications of the social determinants of health. Other interests include neuroethics, disability, and conflicts of interest. He also maintains a research agenda in the history of medicine, focusing on the history of pain without lesion, the history of medical imaging, and the history of objectivity. His dissertation used the lenses of the medical humanities to address the root causes of the widespread undertreatment of pain in the U.S. He counts Montaigne as a personal hero, and can be found blogging away at Medical Humanities Blog (http://www.medhumanities.org).
