Alumni
Bernadette graduated May 5, 2007. She has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship with the Institute for Medical Humanities to explore legal and ethical issues in correctional health care. In addition to her research, she plans to teach medical students, offer continuing education lectures to health care professionals, and continue to serve on hospital committees. One piece of advice Bernadette has for IMH students is, “Take a moment every now and then to appreciate working with the brilliant, accomplished people that are contributing to your education. The IMH provides a wealth of opportunities to meet and work with people of vision and extraordinary talent.” Other than hearing the words “pass with distinction” after her dissertation defense, Bernadette's most memorable experience in Galveston was watching her daughter graduate from medical school. Bernadette plans to remain living in the Greater Houston area until new opportunities take her elsewhere. |
