Jo (as she prefers to be called) received her BA in journalism from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She worked for 30 years in the newspaper business and now is responsible for the postdoctoral program and alumni relations in the Graduate School at UTMB. She lives in Galveston with her husband, Jim, and dog, JJ.
