Dialogue to focus on suffering in faith

The University of Texas Medical Branch's continuing dialogue on religious diversity in the workplace will feature a discussion on suffering.

The discussion will be one of the activities during the university's Diversity Week Celebration.

The Understanding Religious Diversity Task Force, which plans the interfaith dialogues, have scheduled a session titled: “What Did I Do to Deserve This? The Role of Suffering in Our Faith.”

The subject will be approached from three religious perspectives:

• Jewish, Dr. Marvin Cohen, associate professor and vice chairman for clinical affairs in the Department of Anesthesiology.

• Hindu, Dr. Daneshavari Solanki, professor, Department of Anesthesiology.

• Christian, J. Ernest Aguilar, Institute of Medical Humanities.

The session facilitator will be Bob Scott, who will present questions to the panel. The audience will also participate.

This event is sponsored by the UTMB Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Pastoral Care and Human Resources departments.

What: “What Did I Do to Deserve This? The Role of Suffering in Our Faith.”

When: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Where: Levin Hall Dining Room, University of Texas Medical Branch campus, Galveston.
