Dr. Owen Murray, vice president of Offender Health Services for Correctional Managed Care, and Donna K. Sollenberger, executive vice president and chief executive officer for UTMB Health System, spoke to approximately 500 CMC leaders at the first CMC conference held in five years. Also during the session, Dr. Ben Raimer, senior vice president for Health Policy and Legislative Affairs, provided a legislative update.
The conference was held at Moody Gardens on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Many CMC employees said this year’s conference, which included a general session and breakout sessions, was one of the best meetings they had attended. Participants were able to reconnect with colleagues, were energized during leadership training exercises, able to exchange ideas on workplace best practices, and received pertinent education.
Employee Advisory Council (EAC) representatives spoke to attendees regarding the role of the EAC and how employees may engage with the group and get involved. EAC also sponsored a cake reception, and distributed flyers and pens.
At the close of the general session, employee service awards were presented to UTMB CMC staff who work at Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) facilities.
There were 136 TDCJ and 38 TJJD employee nominations. All nominees received a GEM card and finalists received a plaque. First place winners from each category also received a $500 non-recurring merit. Award categories with nominees and finalists are listed below.
