New signs will be installed in these areas as well as at Sixth and Market streets. During the construction, alternate traffic lane closures will be occurring; however, one lane will always remain open. The hospital entrance will not be blocked at any time. The work should be completed within four to six weeks, weather permitting.

New Faculty Senate officers
Effective Sept. 1, Dr. Lisa Cain will be UTMB’s new Faculty Senate chairwoman and Dr. James Graham will be the new chairman-elect. The UTMB Faculty Senate is a representative body of the entire UTMB faculty and serves to link faculty members and administration on matters that advance the academic life and welfare of the university. Cain is an associate professor in the department of neuroscience and cell biology. Graham is an associate professor in the School of Health Professions’ division of rehabilitation sciences and a fellow in the Sealy Center on Aging.

International visitors train at UTMB
Trainees from the Technical University of Denmark’s National Veterinary Institute in Kalvehave, Denmark and from The Pirbright Institute in Surrey, United Kingdom visited the UTMB Galveston National Lab and the National Biocontainment Training Center for biosafety and biocontainment engineering discussions and training. The GNL is committed to collaboration on effective biosafety with laboratory colleagues around the world.
