The east entrance to John Sealy Hospital (near the chapel) is closed for the duration of the Jennie Sealy Hospital construction project. The purpose of the doors being closed and sealed is to prevent dust from entering the building due to the close proximity to the demolition and construction activities at the Jennie Sealy construction site. Pedestrians will be directed to enter at the main entrance of John Sealy Hospital.
Eastbound traffic on Market Street between 9th and 10th streets is scheduled to be closed, starting Monday, for underground construction. Westbound traffic will not be affected. The closure is expected to last through March 23.
Motorists headed east on Market will need to follow a detour along Postoffice Street, one block to the south. The detour will allow them to reconnect to Market Street via 8th Street.
The entrance to 9th Street on Market Street also will be closed for the duration of the project.
Other changes:
-        The bus and shuttle stop on Market Street will be moved from 9th Street to 10th Street.
-        Handicapped access from Parking Garage No. 3 will be routed to the crosswalk at 10th and Market. Handicapped access from Shriners Hospitals for Children will be routed to the crosswalk at 8th and Market.
The construction will not affect access to parking garages, or Shriners’ loading dock and drop-off site on Market Street.

A segment of Texas Avenue has been reduced from two lanes to one lane to allow for underground electrical construction. The closure is expected to be in effect until March 19. The affected area is between University Plaza and the R. Waverley Smith Pavilion. The south lane and sidewalk will remain open for the duration of the construction.
