The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the UTMB invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Asst./Assoc. Professor level. Applicants should have a M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and will be expected to develop, or have previously established, an independent research program relating to bacterial diseases with emphasis on molecular pathogenesis. Candidates with clinical expertise are encouraged to apply. Current interdisciplinary strengths include molecular pathogenesis of enteric bacterial infections, host defenses, vaccine development, and investigation of intracellular pathogens. Additional strengths include nationally recognized molecular research on RNA viruses, T-cell activation, and host defenses to microbial pathogens. We offer a competitive start-up package, modern laboratory space, and an interactive environment with excellent opportunities for collaborations with the basic science and clinical departments.
