Biography

Dr. Nihal Essa Abdulla received his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan in 2000. After completing his internship, he worked as an administrator and Clinical Microbiologist in the prestigious laboratory, Dr Essa's Laboratory and Diagnostic Center, a well known ISO 9001-2000 certified laboratory in Karachi, Pakistan. He then moved to the U.S. where he completed his residency in the Department of Internal Medicine and fellowship in the Division of Hematology & Oncology at UTMB, Galveston. He was then appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology. Besides providing clinical care, he takes special interest in research, teaching and is a 2011 graduate of the Scholars in Education Program at UTMB, a program designed to develop leaders in the area of medical education.

»Curriculum Vitae

The department of internal medicine is developing evidence based clinical protocols which will be available in EPIC (as order sets) for use when admitting patients with these diagnoses. Their AIM is to standardize care and decrease length of stay and readmission rates.
