Welcome to the Department of Internal Medicine
The department is looking forward to the future!
In the last year, our clinical enterprise has expanded with the opening of new outpatient clinics such as our Endocrinology/Rheumatology/Gastroenterology facility in Friendswood. The hospital and clinics in Galveston are open and busy providing patient care.
Our Internal Medicine education programs are successfully training a new contingent of medical students, residents and fellows.
Research funding has expanded including our department playing a critical part in the awarding of a NIH CTSA and the successful renewal of the NIH funded Claude Pepper Center on Aging. The Stark Diabetes Center partnered with the Texas Diabetes Council to receive 3 million dollars per year in funding for a community outreach diabetes education program.
We have a young, vigorous faculty that is poised to lead healthcare for Texas and the country.
