Dr. James Pattarini
Department of Internal Medicine

Dr. Giovanni Geslanni

Dr. Pattarini is Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine. Originally from Utica, New York, his educational background includes a B.S. in Evolutional Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Syracuse University and an M.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, NY.  He was accepted into the combined Aerospace Medicine/Internal Medicine residency program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 2010. Here he was chosen amongst his peers to serve as chief resident, and is continuing to pursue a career in aerospace medicine with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Why UTMB? “As the only program in the US that offers a combined Aerospace/Internal Medicine track, I originally came to UTMB focused on the aerospace medicine program.  Once I got here, the breadth of research opportunities the IM program offers, the unique camaraderie of the house staff, and the clear love of teaching shared by all of the UTMB faculty took me by surprise.  I truly enjoyed my time here as a resident and when the opportunity to stay as chief resident was offered, I was eager for the chance to give back to a program that’s given me so much.”
