and Night-Time English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes Now
Available!
The College of the
Mainland will offer two ESL classes on the UTMB
campus on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays,
both in Rebecca Sealy Hospital Room 1.213
beginning Tuesday September 2, 2008. A
day-time class will be offered from 11:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a night-time class
will be offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration for the class is open
through Friday, August 22, at 3:00 p.m. Testing
for placement levels will occur by appointment
only August 25-27, 2008 between 11 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
for the day-time group and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for
the night-time group, in the same room.

Becoming a U.S. Permanent Resident?
Brown Bag Seminar UTMB International Students and Staff are invited to attend this seminar to learn about pathways to becoming a U.S. permanent resident through employment. Space is limited to 50. Important Tax Information Tax season is here and that means filling out forms! To ensure that you are completed the correct forms (this includes J-1 and F-1 visa holders with no income received while in the US), please refer to our Tax Information page. To determine whether you are a “nonresident alien for tax purposes” please complete our “Worksheet to Determine Tax Residency Status”. CINTAX is easy to use. Most users can complete and print their own nonresident alien income tax returns on their home or work computers without any problems. We encourage you to try this first. If you just don’t fee confident enough to use CINTAX on your own, you may make an appointment for one of two special CINTAX Labs to be held on Thursday, April 3rd and Thursday April 10th, between 5 and 7:30 p.m. in the Moody Medical Library, Room 238. Print the CINTAX flyer here Join Us for “Game Night” at the William Temple Episcopal Student Center, Friday, April 4, 2008 This is a repeat of the highly successful “Game Night” co-hosted by William Temple Episcopal Student Center and the UTMB Office of Diversity and International Affairs. All UTMB students and staff who enjoy playing cards and board games in a casual and informal social setting are encouraged to attend. Snacks, soft-drinks, and games will be provided. Bring your own wine or beer to share, if you wish. No reservation is required, but RSVP’s are helpful and will be appreciated. The William Temple Episcopal Student Center is located at the corner of Market and 5th Streets, across the street from Arlan’s Market. See you at “Game Night”! Interested in a FREE Intermediate to Advanced Conversational English as a Second Language (ESL) class for you and/or your adult family members? We have openings for those of you who are interested in taking an ESL evening class from Jan 22 to May 29, 2008. Classes will be taught on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. at the UTMB Rebecca Sealy Hospital, Conference Room 1.123. Pre-registration will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis to the first twenty five (25) respondents to this invitation. If you or your adult family dependents (over 18 years old) are interested, please print, complete, and submit the pre-registration form posted in our web page and also attached. You may by bring the pre-registration form to the Office of Diversity and International Affairs or you may send it to us via fax (747-8836) or e-mail to mcareval@utmb.edu. With you pre-registration you will be confirming your commitment to attend each and every ESL evening class for this 2008 Spring session, 3 days a week (M, T, TH) for 3 hours a day. If you cannot commit to attend every class you should not enroll. Registration and Placement Testing
