Texas, serving 82,661 women and children with 11 part-time
local physicians, 29 certified midwives, 25 nurse practitioners, 66

Founded in 1989, RMCHP makes available a broad
range of health care for women and children and is unmatched in scope
and service by any other institution. (more about
RMCHP)
By incorporating telehealth in our program we will
increase the number of patients served, expand services and eliminate costly and
time-consuming trip for patients who must journey to Galveston to meet with
UTMB specialists. Phase one, supported in full by the Texas Telecommunications
Infrastructure Board and Houston Endowment, establishes video conferencing
connections between UTMB and our RMCHP clinics. Phase two provides a
secure electronic medical records system, a quick and efficient way for
UTMB specialists to have accurate and necessary patient information. Phase
three extends the impact of telehealth by applying
teletechnology to utrasound imaging, non-stress testing and mammography reading. (details)
