Charles (Chuck) Johnstone was named Chief Legal Officer and Associate Vice President for UTMB in September, 2007. He was formerly the Associate Director and then the Interim Director of Legal Affairs after coming to UTMB in 1994.

Prior to that, Chuck was the manager of the Tax Administration section of the Texas Comptroller's office under John Sharp. Under Comptroller Bob Bullock, he served as an Executive Assistant and Senior Attorney. Chuck was also a sole practitioner in Austin, Texas, and before that served as an Assistant Judge Advocate, U.S. Air Force. He lectured in Law, Accounting and Ethics for over 16 years at two Austin colleges. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (B.B.A. in Accounting, 1971; J.D, 1974; LL.M, 1977).
