Carolee Ann King is senior vice president and general counsel for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. King’s expertise includes health care and regulatory law, hospital compliance, fraud and abuse, medical liability, physician practice and clinical research.
In her past position as vice president and chief compliance officer for the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, she was responsible for all aspects of institutional and health care compliance and served as an adviser on general health law matters. Prior to this she served as a lawyer for the UT System. She has worked as in-house counsel for Insurance Corporation of America and as a lawyer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
King has been a frequent speaker at law conferences on health and regulatory topics. She has also served as a Texas Medical Association keynote speaker and has presented her program “In Your Defense” to hundreds of Texas physicians. Her publications include: “No Problem, Everyone Else Does It (Ethical Consideration for Data Bank Reporting).”
King received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Winona State University in Minnesota and a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
