UTMB participates in two specific Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO): Novation and MedAssets. Our relationship with the GPO's allows us to pool our Supply Requirements with the other Hospital members to obtain competitive pricing and services.

University Healthcare Consortium (UHC)
The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), formed in 1984, is an alliance of 101 academic medical centers and 170 of their affiliated hospitals representing approximately 90% of the nation’s non-profit academic medical centers. UHC offers its members specific programs and services to improve clinical, operational and patient safety performance. The mission of the University HealthSystem Consortium is to advance knowledge, foster collaboration, and promote change to help members succeed in their respective markets.

MedAssets
MedAssets exists to help hospitals find cash from existing operations and to improve margins so healthcare providers can continue to serve their communities. MedAssets addresses cost and revenue issues simultaneously with proprietary technology that increases visibility and allows hospitals to realistically assess profitability.
