Collection: Surgical
excision, punch biopsy, curettage. Note: Muscle and nerve biopsies have
different, specialized storage and submission requirements. Review
instructions for specific test prior to biopsy procedure.

Storage: Submit biopsy in 10% neutral
buffered formalin in a container labeled with:

Patients first and last names

Patient Medical Record number
-
specimen identification
-
Refrigeration recommended
-
For microbiologic culture, submit biopsy in
sterile container without preservative.
