Fecal Specimens
General Considerations
Keep stool specimens cool. Follow collection and storage instructions for specific test.
Do not use toilet paper to collect stool.
Collection
Pass stool directly into a sterile, wide mouth, leak-proof container with a tight fitting lid.
Pass stool into a clean, dry container and transfer to collection/transport container.
Record start date and time and completion date and time for timed collections.
For specimens for ova and parasite examination transfer fecal specimen to Parapak preservation containers.
