CRYOPRECIPITATE (007-0100, 007-0180)  "CRYOPRECIPITATE"

Synonyms: AHF, Antihemophilic Factor, Antihemophilic Globulin, Cryo

Order Mnemonic: CRYO

Order Includes: Pool of cryoprecipitate which consists of cryoprecipitate separated from whole blood collected from a random donor suspended in approximately 10-15 mls of plasma

Lab: Blood Bank

Request Form: Blood Bank Division Primary Request Form

Storage Instructions: Keep at room temperature; do not refrigerate

Causes for Rejection: Acceptable transfusion criteria not met. 

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day; Blood Bank, Room 1.180 John Sealy Annex.

Turnaround Time: 1 hour

Special Instructions: Type and Screen required during current hospital visit.  Must meet acceptable transfusion criteria.  All requests must include requesting physician’s name and ID number, patient's name, UH #, patient location, clinical information/diagnosis.  Request form must be filled out completely and all information must be legible.

Specimen: Blood

Volume: 7-10 mL

Minimum Volume: 3 mL

Container: Lavender-topped tube (EDTA)

How to Order: Number of units usually 10-20 units for an adult.
