Collection: Routine venipuncture; blood samples must be drawn 6-8 hours after the last dose.

Storage Instructions: Store blood at 4-8C. Centrifuge the specimen and remove the serum from the red cells within 4 hours of collection. Store serum at 2-8C.

Causes for Rejection: Blood collected in a SST/gel tube

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 24 hours; STAT: 1 hour

Specimen: Blood

Volume: 3 mL blood

Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum

Container: Red-topped tube. Do not use SST/gel   tube.

Reference Ranges: Therapeutic Range: 0.8-1.6 ng/mL

Significant Values: Potential Toxicity: > 2.4 ng/Ml

Test Method: Chemiluminescence
