Turnaround Time:

 Routine: 8 hours; ASAP: 4 hours; STAT: 1 hour 

Specimen Requirements: Collect: 30mL of Random urine. Supervised collection needed if chain of custody collection requested. (Min.: 1mL of urine).

Test Includes: Urine (Qual): Cannabinoids, Cocaine, & Opiates

Specimen Preparation:  Refrigerate specimen within 1 hour of collection. 

Storage/Transport: Room temperature if delivered to Sample Management within 1 hours of collection, or refrigerated if > 1 hours.

Stability: Refrigerated for ≤ 7 days.

Causes for Rejection: Specimen collected in container with a preservative, incomplete and/or incorrect sample identification, and improper storage/transport.

By report (reports may vary based on instrumentation, patient age and sex)

Note:

 Chain of custody samples must follow the chain of custody protocol and are not performed STAT. Indicate suspected drug(s) if possible.

When ordering tests for which Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement will be sought, physicians should only order tests that are medically necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of the patient.  Components of the organ or disease panels may be ordered individually.  The diagnostic information must substantiate all tests ordered and must be in the form of an ICD-9 code or its verbal equivalent.
