Collection: Fasting concentrated urine specimens are the preferred specimens. However, if chyluria is suspected, a postprandial specimen (1-2 hours) should also be examined.

Storage Instructions: If the specimen can not be brought to the lab promptly, refrigerate at 2-8°C.

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at Sample Management, Room 5.136 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 4 hours; STAT: 1 hour

Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Container: Disposable, 4.5 oz specimen container

Reference Ranges: No lipid seen
