Collection: Routine venipuncture

Storage Instructions: Prefer prompt delivery. Centrifuge the specimen to separate serum from cells and refrigerate at 2-8°C.

Causes for Rejection: Gross hemolysis and lipemia. Heparin or EDTA samples.

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 24 hours; test is performed Monday-Friday

Volume: 7 mL blood

Minimum Volume: 1 mL blood

Container: Preferred: SST (gel barrier) tube; Acceptable: Red-topped tube
