Collection: Routine venipuncture

Storage Instructions: Prefer prompt delivery.  Blood - seperate serum from cells and refrigerate for up to 7 days. Freeze at -20°C for longer storage.

Causes for Rejection: Gross hemolysis, lipemic serum

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at Sample Management, Room 5.138, McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 24 hours; test is performed Monday - Friday

Specimen: Blood

Volume: 7 mL blood or 1 mL serum

Minimum Volume: 3 mL blood or 0.5 mL serum

Container: SST (gel barrier) preferred;  red-topped tube acceptable
