Collection: Routine venipuncture

Storage Instructions: Centrifuge, remove serum from red cells and refrigerate at 2-8°C.

Causes for Rejection: Gross hemolysis, inappropriately labeled sample, incomplete information and blood collected in any anticoagulated tube.

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at Sample Management, Room 5.136 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 4 hours; STAT: 1 hour

Specimen: Blood

Volume: 5 mL blood

Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum

Container: SST (gel barrier) or red-topped tube

Reference Ranges: <110 ng/mL
