AutoCyteTM Prep Thin-Layer Cervical Sample - Cytology

Synonyms: Liquid-based Pap, Mono-Layer Pap, Thin-Layer Pap, AutoCyte Prep

Applies To: Detection of abnormal and malignant cervical cells

Storage Instructions: Specimen must be stored in the CytoRich® preservative vial either at room temperature or in the refrigerator (4-6C) up to two weeks.

Causes for Rejection: Incomplete and/or improper labeling, insufficient pertinent clinical history, specimen not fixed on immediately. See the Cytopathology specimens acceptance and rejection policy.  See Medicare Compliance for submitting Medicare Pap Smears.

Availability: Specimens are accepted Monday-Friday from 8 AM-5 PM (except holidays) at Room 9.300, John Sealy Annex.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 3-5 working days; STAT: same day

Special Instructions: Pertinent clinical information must be included on request Form. Preservative vial with patient's specimen must be labeled with patient's full name and unit history number. Please read the Cytopathology specimens acceptance and rejection policy and the instructions for Medicare compliance.
