BREAST SECRETION - CYTOLOGY Applies To: Detection of abnormal cells and malignant cells Lab: Cytopathology Laboratory Request Form: Cytopathology Requisition Form Collection: See Storage Instructions Storage Instructions: Slides should be fixed in 95% alcohol immediately. Causes for Rejection: Incomplete and/or improper labeling, insufficient pertinent clinical history, specimen not fixed on slide immediately. See Cytopathology specimens acceptance and rejection policy. Availability: Specimens are accepted Monday-Friday from 8 AM-5 PM (except holidays) at Room 9.300, John Sealy Annex. Turnaround Time: Routine: 1-3 working days; STAT: same day Special Instructions: Slides should be put in cytopathology pap smear bottle. Pertinent clinical information must be included on request form. Slides must be labeled in pencil (frosted end) with patient's full name and unit history number.
