Applies To: Malignant tumors

Lab: Surgical Pathology / Hematopathology

Request Form: Tissue Consultation (pink sheet).

Collection: Fresh tumor specimen without formalin or other fixatives

Storage Instructions: Tumor tissue placed in MEM tissue culture media available in Gross Room. Place in refrigerator (2-5°C).

Causes For Rejection: Necrosis, abundant fibrosis, quantity not sufficient for study

Availability: Deliver to Gross Room, Room 2.186, John Sealy Annex, Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5:30 PM

Turnaround Time: 2 days

Special Instructions: Request Form must include physician's name, ID code, and signature.

Specimen: Malignant tumor tissue

Minimum Volume: 0.5 cm3

Container: Vial with MEM tissue culture medium obtained from Gross Room

How To Order: Submit specimen with proper Form to Gross Room, Room 2.186, John Sealy Annex.
