TEST ORDER MNEMONIC: BFEOS

Lab: Hematopathology

Applies To: Parasitic infections, allergic reactions, interstitial nephritis, gastrointestinal disorder

Cause For Rejection: QNS, old specimen, identification errors, smear too thick or not properly prepared

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours/day at Sample Management, Room 5.136 McCullough.

Special Instructions: Deliver promptly to lab in small sterile container. Specimens smeared on glass slide will be accepted, but should be properly prepared and labeled (call laboratory).

Specimen: Sputum, urine, feces, other body fluids (call laboratory)

Test Method: Manual microscopy (Wright’s stain)

Interfering Substances: Disintegration
