IMMATURE PLATELET FRACTION: (089-0466)

Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF, reticulated platelets) is the percent of platelets newly released from the bone marrow.  IPF reflects the rate of thrombopoiesis.

 Electronic resistance detection enhanced by hydrodynamic focusing. and flow Cytometry

 Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136 McCullough

 TAT: 1 hour; Routine: 4 hours

Special Instructions: ECMO specimens should be delivered directly to the Hematopathology lab (5.142 McCullough)

Collect: Routine venipuncture; Collect in EDTA (lavender tube). Micro-collection is acceptable.

Volume: 2.0 ml

Minimum Volume: 1 mL (0.5 mL in extreme emergency)

Storage/Transport: Stable at Room Temperature for 12 hours. 

Stability: Stable Refrigerated for 24hours.

Causes for Rejection:  Clotted, QNS, identification error, hemolysis

If applicable, state clinical information that is required to be provided with specimen.
