Collection: Aseptic technique, collect aspirate, drainage, curettings (preferred) or culturette; crush ampule in culturette after collection.

Storage Instructions: Room temperature

Causes for Rejection: Refrigerated specimen, leaking container

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at the Microbiology Processing Laboratory, Room 5.137 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Preliminary report after 1 day, final report after 3 days

Special Instructions:  Please provide relevant clinical information on request form. Please note if a specific organism is suspected.
