Test Includes: Isolation and identification of yeast and moulds

Lab: Mycology

Request Form: Microbiology

Collection: Aseptic technique - biopsy or tissue sample have better recovery than swabs for these organisms

Storage Instructions: Room temperature

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at the Microbiology Processing Laboratory, Room 5.137 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Cultures are held 3 weeks. Positive results are reported upon recognition.

Special Instructions:  Preferred sample is aspiration of infected area.  Antifungal susceptibility is performed only with approval.

Minimum Volume: 0.5 gram
