Test Order Mnemonic: V NAA, V NCAA for both GC and Chlamydia trachomatis tests

Request Form: Microbiology

Collection: Follow collection instructions in the ProbeTec collection kits (male and female). Collect firstmorning urine sample in sterile cup (males).

Storage Instructions: Room temperature, refrigerate urine samples.

Causes for Rejection: Failure to use ProbeTec collection kit, culturettes, samples from non-approved for this test, such as conjunctiva and vaginal. Urine samples in preservative.

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at the Microbiology Processing Laboratory, Room 5.137 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: 1 day; test performed Monday-Friday

Special Instructions: Collection kits specific for the ProbeTec test system must be used. One transport medium may be submitted for both Neisseria gonorrhea and Chlamydia trachomatis testing.

Container: ProbeTec transport for male and female collection available through Materials Management- sterile cup.ProbeTec transport for male and female swab collection available through Materials Management- sterile cup.

Other information: This test is not recommended for medico-legal purposes (cultures are). Collect C. trachomatis and GC cultures in cases of suspected sexual abuse.
