Synonyms: Mumps Antibody, Mumps immune status

Test Order Mnemonic: MUMP

Test Includes: Antibody to mumps virus. A positive result indicates previous exposure to mumps. For acute infection, a specific test for IgM antibody should be requested (Reference Lab test).

Lab: Serology

Request Form: Microbiology/Serology

Collection: Routine venipuncture, SST (serum separator tube)

Storage Instructions: Centrifuge and store at 2-8°C.

Causes for Rejection: Insufficient quantity, gross hemolysis, lipemia

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Test is performed twice per week

Volume: 1ml serum
