Applies to: Detection of Rotavirus antigen in fecal samples.

Lab: Virology

Request Form: Microbiology

Collection: Collect fecal specimen in a clean, leak-proof container. Swabs are accepted.

Storage Instructions: Refrigerate.

Causes for Rejection: Insufficient specimen, leaking container

Availability: Seasonal. This test is performed daily Sunday - Friday from November through May. Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at the Microbiology Processing Laboratory, Room 5.137 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: 1 day

Specimen: Feces, rectal swab with visible fecal material

Minimum Volume: 1 gram

Container: Clean, leak-proof container, culturette (no preservative)
